The New Blue of Yale:

The New Blue was established in 1969, making them not only Yale's first all-women's a cappella group, but also the oldest all-women's organization of any kind on Yale's campus. They are now one of Yale’s soprano-alto a cappella groups with an entirely self-arranged repertoire, singing everything from pop songs, to folk music, to jazz and blues. With over 50 years of rich musical history, The New Blue continues to proudly stand (and sing!) as a symbol of living change at Yale. We are so excited to welcome 5 new bloibs into our group and to share some music with you for parent’s weekend!

The Yale Alley Cats:

Founded in 1943, the Yale Alley Cats are one of the oldest and best-known a cappella groups from Yale University. It all began on Saybrook Tower, where the four founding members began this incredible journey. Now, 80 years later, the group has grown into a tight-knit family with 500+ alumni, becoming one of the nation’s most renowned a cappella groups. The group’s diverse, ambitious, and challenging repertoire has its roots in jazz, and has evolved to include Motown, Pop, R&B, Folk, Country, and more. Their music has been awarded many honors, such as a Grammy Award Shortlist entry for one of their albums, and they release a new album every two years. The Alley Cats are also the first internationally touring a cappella group at Yale, and will continue to continue that tradition by visiting destination such as China, Switzerland, and Rwanda this year. We are so excited to welcome 6 new kittens into our family, and we can't wait for you to hear them!
