Meet the Whiffencats of 2025!

Whiffenpoofs tap three Alley Cats for the class of 2025: Logan Foy, Joey Cumpian, and Rory Latham. Our former pitch, Logan, will now be the pitch of the Whiffs.

Congratulations to Rory Latham, Joey Cumpian, and Logan Foy (left to right) as they join the Yale Whiffenpoofs Class of 2025. Our former pitch, Logan, will be the new pitch of the Whiffs; we know he’ll bring them the same charm that he brought us! All three of them will. We couldn’t be prouder of our new Whiffencats as they travel the world with America’s oldest a cappella group. We already miss them dearly even though they haven’t truly left. Once an Alley Cat, always an Alley Cat. CAW!

Summer Tour 2024: Lions & Camels & Cats, oh my!

The Cats wrap up the 2023-2024 year with a summer tour of four continents! They traveled to Chicago, to Switzerland, to Qatar, to South Africa.

The Cats end the year with a BANG on Summer Tour! They flew from continent to continent, scarfing down deep dish in Chicago, hiking the mountains of Switzerland, dune bashing in Qatar, and befriending the big cats of South Africa on a three day safari.

The start of summer blew by in the windy city of Chicago, Joey and Charlie’s hometowns. The Cats wandered through Lincoln park, into Lake Michigan, then onto the White Sox field to sing the national anthem (ending the team’s losing streak through the almighty power of collegiate a cappella). This baseball victory brought the Cats to new heights—specifically, 4,130 ft high in the Swiss Alps. Switzerland’s rolling greenery spurred many impromptu hikes, to see the summer snow of Leysin Mountain or the cobbled town of Lake Geneva. In a dramatic change of scenery, the Cats left the misty Switzerland for the blazing 11+ UV of Doha, Qatar. To beat the heat, the group visited museums and night markets to revel in the city’s stunning architecture. The desert surrounding the city was equally breathtaking; the Cats traversed it by camel, dune bashing, and sand surfing before picnicking with tea and prunes to watch the sunset over the dunes.

After Qatar, the Cats landed in South Africa with a full agenda: hiking Tabletop mountain, seeing the penguins, touring historical museums, and exchanging songs with the incredible choir at the University of Cape Town. Tour ended with a three day safari, an experience that will live on in Alley Cat history. They saw everything from elephants to cheetahs to lions and more. Once the sun had set on their final day, the Cats gathered around a fire for dinner under a canopy of stars, bittersweet by the end of tour but wonderstruck by all they’d experienced.

Spring Tour 2024: Cats in China

The Alley Cats spend Spring Tour in China! After five cities in three weeks, the cats had one unforgettable experience.

Over spring break, the Alley Cats toured five cities in China, performing and dining and sight-seeing across the south to the north.

The first day of tour began with a performance at Shanghai University. Then, the Cats hit the streets to explore the Yu Garden Market and taste some local street food. After Shanghai, they boated across the wetlands of Hangzhou, China's Tea Capital. In Chengdu, the Cats met some giant pandas, indulged in hot pot, and enjoyed a traditional tea cermonony before taking on Sichuan nightlife. The next morning, the cats took an early train to Xi’an, home of the Terracotta Warriors and the famous Everbright City. After performing at Xi’an Fanyi University, the group tried out calligraphy, Tai Chi, and paper cutting during a cultural exchange with the students. The tour ended in Beijing, Yixiao’s hometown. There, the Cats devoured authentic Peking duck and wandered through the city’s modern streets to historical havens, from the Summer Palace to the Great Wall. Not only did the Cats get to explore China’s historical monuments, they got to perform at one: the Forbidden City Concert Hall.

Check out some videos from that concert (and of the whole tour) on instagram, youtube, and the Spring Tour 2024 Gallery.
