Rush is the audition process through which new Yale freshmen can become a part of the Alley Cats. Rush takes place at the start of each academic year, during the fall semester, beginning with two performances so you can hear what each a cappella group sounds like, Woolsey Jam and Dwight Jam. From there, you can sign up for an audition and start the process! You can find out more about Yale a cappella singing groups and how to join them at the Singing Group Council website.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact our Rush Managers:
Stay tuned for Rush events once the Fall term begins!
Tap Night 2016 will start at 10pm sometime the week of September 12th! Be in your room, and be ready...
It's like auditions, Part Two. New exercises, a new solo -- you'll even get a chance to sing with the Cats backing you up.
This is your chance to experience a full-length Alley Cat concert. You'll also have the chance to enjoy some great food while chatting with the Cats!
Now we get to hear you sing! Your audition will consist of warm-ups, Aura Lee, and your solo. Alley Cat Auditions will take place at the Jonathan Edwards Theatre, located in the basement of Entryway G.
Sponsored by Yale's Singing Group Council, the Dwight Hall Jam is your second chance to hear Yale’s a cappella groups sing their hearts out before the official start of Rush. At the end of the concert, people interested in rushing a cappella groups are given the chance to sign up for auditions!
This is the first of two performances in which all the a cappella groups on campus come together to give you a taste of their style of music and performance.
